- This is when a subject is being questioned in an ongoing investigation while the polygraph examiner monitors his body language and signs to arrive at a preliminary opinion. Forensic assessment interview usually precedes a polygraph test.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT POLYGRAPH EXAMINATION
This type of polygraph examination is usually done during the process of employment particularly when the prospective employers want to be sure about the applicants’ background, credibility, claims in the resume, why he/she left his last job etc. A lot of organizations have been saved from employing fraudsters!
CRIMINAL RECORD INVESTIGATION / BACKGROUND CHECK
This specifically deals with background check and finding out about the criminal record of a subject. It can also be used during an employment process.
SPECIFIC POLYGRAPH EXAMINATION
This kind of polygraph examination is conducted in specific crime or theft investigations cases (i.e. when a single act of crime has been committed) examples are fraud, theft, connivance to steal etc.
